The Brahman Foundation

The Future of Brahman Cattle

The Brahman Foundation was established in 2015 by Carlos Guerra as a 501(c)(3) organization, with a vision to support the youth involved in the Brahman breed, especially the AJBA members. Carlos, a dedicated advocate for junior programs in The Valley, reached out to five fellow breeders, who generously donated heifers. These heifers were auctioned off, alongside Brahman genetics, including semen, embryos, and flushes. Additional unique lots, such as hunts and weekend stays, were also featured at the event. The Foundation's journey began during the 2015 All American Banquet, where the first LMC & Friends ANIMO Award was presented to Megan Lambert, sparking the idea for the foundation. With the support of key figures such as Bubba Sartwelle, ABBA President, and Chris Shivers, ABBA EVP, the vision quickly became a reality. Ten years later, the Brahman Foundation is extremely proud of its success in providing over 1,000 AJBA members with educational, leadership, scholarship, and showmanship opportunities.

Much of this success can be attributed to the ANIMO, commitment, dedication, and love that the Foundation’s first four presidents—Carlos X. Guerra, Mike England, Lana Forgason Stanley, and Chris Shivers—have for the juniors and the Brahman breed. These individuals have over 190 years of collective involvement and respect for the Brahman breed.

In addition to supporting these programs, the Foundation also offers internship opportunities, helping to foster the next generation of leaders within the Brahman community.

Thanks to the loyal support of donors, volunteers, and leaders, the Brahman Foundation has awarded hundreds of thousands of dollars to AJBA members, with even more opportunities ahead. The Foundation continues to grow, making a lasting impact on the Brahman breed and its future.

A Community Committed to Your Success
The Foundation gives support to programs that aid in the development of youth through education, leadership, scholarships, showmanship, carcass merit, and breed research. The support for these programs requires money and dedicated breeders along with several other vested supporters of youth programs and cattle help fund our program. To date our Scholarship pay-out is $115,000 with funds raised through our Funding the Future online sale held every year in December.

Thank you to everyone who has donated and supported it to date! Other support is shown at the state and national level giving support to the AJBA and the junior programs in Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Florida, Mississippi, Georgia and Alabama. We also give additional support in the Showmanship and to the contest participants at the All American.
