Legacy TBF Founders Scholarships
The Brahman Foundation was created in the fall of 2015 with the initial idea being presented by Carlos X. Guerra during the presentation of the first LMC & Friends ANIMO Award to Megan Lambert at the Summer of 2015 All American Banquet. Carlos rounded up heifer donations that night from several families to help raise the funding funds to start The Brahman Foundation. Those families included Dr. Richard Forgason, Arnold Saunders and England-Guerra. Later on that summer the families of Alfredo Muskus (In memory of Vicente Lecuna) and Carson Watkins of Watkins Cattle Company of Lousiana were added. Rachel Cutrer, who made our logo that fall, also put together a tank of V8 semen that auctioned off in their sale for over $8,000 to start the TBF funding. These were the founding breeders who launched the TBF. In honor of their support, the following scholarships are still awarded today.
Megan Lambert Inspirational Scholarship - This annual scholarship is funded by TBF to recognize the lasting inspiration that Megan Lambert had in the formation of The Brahman Foundation.
Privately Funded TBF Scholarships
The Brahman Foundation is also proud to manage several privately-funded scholarships. These funds are private contributions donated by ranches, businesses, and individuals. If you would like to be part of our privately managed scholarship program, please contact any member of TBF’s board.

BRC Ranch “Beyond the Banner” Scholarship Fund - Privately funded by Brandon & Rachel Cutrer family, this program has awarded over $22,000 in scholarships since 2019.

Buddy Bailey Memorial Scholarship - This fund honors Buddy Bailey, longtime Texas Brahman breeder and strong supporter of youth programs. This fund is privately contributed by friends, family and loved ones of Mr. Bailey. A $1000 scholarship is awarded each year in Mr. Bailey’s honor.

Emily Dial Memorial Scholarship - This fund honors Emily Koontz Dial, iconic Brahman breeder and judge. Emily's great grandfather, Captain John N. Keeran bought five 'Bos Indicus' Brahman cattle from India off a Dutch trading ship docked at Indianola, TX in 1878. This was the first importation of humped cattle in Texas. Yet it was Emily's unique breeding style that influenced red and gray herds around the globe, winning her 300+ National and International Championships. She sold many cattle for record-breaking prices in her day– for example, a quarter interest in MR. 3X MUCHO GRANDE sold to Argentina for $50,000 in 1974. Bending gender roles, Emily was the first ever woman Brahman cattle judge, judging in Australia, South Africa, Rhodesia (Zimbabwe), Venezuela, Colombia, Panama, Costa Rica, Honduras, and Guatemala as well as throughout the United States.

Richard Lambert Memorial Scholarship - This private fund was created in 2024 by the Lambert family, longtime supporters of TBF, in honor of Richard Lambert. It awards scholarships annually.

LMC “Animo” Award Scholarship - Created in 2018, the “Animo” scholarship is a privately funded scholarship award that is privately funded by the Guerra family, funded through private contributions and through proceeds from their annual LMC “Giving Thanks” online sale. “Animo” winners are selected from all age groups of exhibitors and recognized for their spirit of service, passion, and excitement for the Brahman breed. Each “Animo” award is a $1000 scholarship. Through the years, this private fund has awarded over $22,000 to young Brahman breeders.

Maci Dickerson “Shining Light” Scholarship - Created in 2024, this scholarship is created in memory of former junior Brahman exhibitor Maci Dickerson. Maci was an inspiration to all of her fellow exhibitors and this scholarship is awarded to keep Maci’s light shining. The initial funds for this scholarship came from an online benefit sale in Maci’s memory which generated more than $70,000 in scholarship funds. View the Application.

Victor Guerra Memorial Scholarship - The Victor Guerra Memorial is a longtime privately managed scholarship fund in honor of Carlos Guerra’s brother, Victor. The Guerra family has provided financial support to thousands of young people through this program. Learn more about the history of the Victor Guerra Memorial here.
We always welcome new partners in our privately funded scholarship program. The minimum contribution for a privately funded scholarship is $100 per year.
